Financial Center Liechtenstein The Liechtenstein Economic Area Liechtenstein was able to accede to the EEA Treaty without having to give up its partnership with Switzerland (which up to the present time has not acceded to the EEA or joined the EU). Liechtenstein thus exists within two economic areas, the Swiss-Liechtenstein Economic and Customs Union and the European Economic Area - a comfortable situation. The Country is therefore able to benefit in future from the free movement of goods, services and capital throughout the whole of Europe and at the same time enjoy the advantages of the Swiss Economic Area, namely the stable Swiss Currency (the Swiss Franc despite membership in the EEA) and the open borders to Switzerland thanks to the common Customs Union. |
